Overview

The Department of Complementary and Alternative Medicine at Dev Sanskriti Vishwavidyalaya is offering a one-year, research-focused Master of Science (M.Sc.) program in Traditional Health Sciences. This intensive, purely research-oriented program aligns with the National Education Policy (NEP-2020) and offers students a unique opportunity to do research in specific areas related to time-tested traditional health practices. The program focuses on scientific inquiry, evidence-based analysis, and interdisciplinary research in specific areas to bridge the gap between ancient wisdom and modern health sciences.

 

Program Focus and Possible Research Areas/Topics

The research work in this program shall focus on one or more of the following areas
(although a specific student will actually work on a single or a few of these areas):

  1. Fundamentals of Traditional Health Systems
      • Exploration of specific areas of indigenous and traditional healing sciences like Ayurveda, Yoga, Naturopathy, Marma, Panchakarma, Acupressure
      • Philosophical and theoretical frameworks of traditional health practices; textual analysis of related ancient manuscripts
      • Systematic reviews and meta-analyses of traditional healing practices
      • Comparative study of traditional and modern healthcare approaches for specific cases
  2. Evidence-Based Research and Documentation
    • Application of qualitative and quantitative research methods in traditional health sciences
    • Scientific evaluation of the impact of indigenous and traditional therapeutic techniques like Yoga, Marma, Naturopathy, Acupressure on physiological and psychological health
    • Holistic approaches to chronic disease management through traditional interventions

Thesis phase 1 – 20 credits

Life management course-1 – 2 credits

Semester 2

Thesis phase 2 – 20 credits

Life management course-2 – 2 credits

 

Total credits = 44

 

Life management – a value-added course (VAC) offered by the Department of Life Management of the university

MOOCS (massive open online courses) will be allowed as per university policy.
